We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I’m expecting….
I’ am expecting to be humbled in a huge way… one of the reasons why i so desperately wanted to be a part of this trip was because of the way a world racer lives while on his/or her mission. I think its awesome that we are stripping ourselves of the luxurious we take for granted everyday and taking on the lifestyle of those less fortunate and poverty stricken. What better way to spread the gospel to others!!! Christ was tempted in ALL ways and was still Without sin (Hebrews 4:15). Christ lowered himself to a level that we can understand so His message would be understood, I believe as Christians we are called to do the same. I’m expecting to be out of my league… God brings us out of our comfort zones to shape us into His image Philippians 1:6, I know that this trip will stretch me and I know I will be called to do things I never thought possible. (Philippians 4:3). I’m expecting to miss my family and friends…11 months is a long time to be away from your loved ones, but I know my team and i will get along great and I’m hoping for long lasting friendships.
I think God is going to use this team to encourage, equip, and strengthen the church body around the world. Even if only one person comes to Christ the entire time we are gone, it will have all been worth it!! (Luke 15:10). God has given us the tools, now we have to step out an make it happen, as a Christ follower I welcome satan’s opposition!! (James 1:2-4).
