wow! 79.25 hours of travel to get to mozambique enough said…we traveled 21 hours on the plane and the rest of the time in vans. we were divided into 2 vans that sat about 15 people each…there are over 50 of us needless to say i found myself on a half of a half of a seat for the rest of those 58 hours. it was mentally and physically challenging for all of us! on the way to the border we stopped and stayed at angies house on the floor…..well most of us Brad Rachel and i decided to sleep in trees. we stacked hammocks three high. i of course being on top with my hammock tent did the best i could to provide shelter from the hash weather conditions that came at night. brad woke up the next morning to find himself covered in bites and red bumps. i was also bitten but not nearly as bad as him. we are now staying at a place called iris. iris is located in dondo next to the sun the temperature can be compared to that of a sauna! after working up enough energy to take a bucket shower you find yourself imediately after drenched in sweat! we sleep on the floor with our pads and avoid mini trantulas that crawl around our gear at night! we were given our ministry sites for this month and my team along with another was blessed with kedesh! kedesh is a boys home found and run by john wix. john wix is one of those crazy missionaries you only hear about. being with this man alone has blown my mind! this boys home is like no other. there are boys ages 8-18 everywhere i cant explain the impact these boys are having on me they have so little and give so much! it is very humbling living here and simply enjoying life with these boys. we are doing several construction based serving ministries such as finishing the completion of a mud home and stabbing bamboo in the swap like water hole where we swim in the back of the property. a couple days ago one of the boys took me by the hand and led me into the woods behind the property when we stopped i couldnt believe what i saw he had brought me to a tree obstacle course! here we literally climb from tree to tree in a massive circle trying not to touch the ground 100%climbing total God thing i loved it! since then we have climbed all sorts of things i climbed a large tree with the boys to discover a fruit that would chang my life forever a fruit called jaca. Jaca is a perfect combination of mango and bananas mind blown! very healthy and sweet and a wonderful dessert after rice and beans! as far as my health goes i could really use some prayer my milaria meds have created a massive amount of acid build up in my esophogous i now know i cannot lay down after taking them or take them dry but currently i find it very hard to swallow without pain! it burns but i just went to the market and hopefully the medicine will start to kick in soon. internet is very hard to find i will continue to do my best but hopefully there will be more posts in the next country i will be leaving mozambique on the 3rd to head to my debrief the next stop is hopefully in the mountains of swAziland! love you all and wish you could be here with me god bless talk to ya soon!
