 Philippines: Ministry Projects

 :The Feedings:

The Feedings have been one of our favorite ministries out here at Kids International Ministries in the Philippines. Monday-Friday at 9am and 4pm the Feedings happen. Two large plastic contains are filled with hot soup and placed into the back of a vehicle to head out into the villages. The morning Feeding are about an hour away and then evening ones are closer to the ministry site. Along with a medicine kit and two ladles for the soup we pack into the vehicle with some older street kids and venture out into the city of Rizal, Philippines. When we arrive to the Feeding location we are greeted by excited children and families. We spend the next 30 minutes ladling out the soup and cleaning and bandaging wounds. At times it can be chaotic, especially when we dozens of children crowding around you. I am the one who is usually in the corner with the medicine kit. Blood, cuts, rashes don’t seem to bother me. Yet, i realize i am no doctor. Often, I look through the medicine kit and realize we don’t have the proper supplies to treat some of the village people. In the those moments i am reminded the power of prayer. After all the kids/families are fed/cared for we play games and hang out. God is good! Feedings bring so much joy!

 :The Children’s Home:

We spend most of our time at the children’s home. There are currently over 40 kids there. Ages 9 days old-13 years old. At the children’s home we spend time with the kids doing different activities. The older kids we tutor with homework, play soccer, card games, play on the play ground etc. Tuesday and Thursday nights we lead devotions with all the kids and share the love of Jesus. In the nursery is where the staff need the most help during different hours of the day. We help the staff by taking the toddlers outside to play games so the staff can clean up and take their breaks. We also help take care of the babies (momma practice!). Yesterday, i got to feed a bottle to a 9 day old baby girl who came into the children’s home after she was born. At first i was reclutant to hold her. She is so small and fragile, how am i suppose to hold her. Then my motherly instincts kicked in when i heard her crying in her crib and i knew what to do. There is something so special and truly beautiful about holding a newborn in your arms. Lately, i have been thinking that God is preparing me to have daughters some day. With learning the value of sisterhood, team leading on the race all girl teams and now leading a short mission trip of ladies, God is doing something.  But who knows! (:

:Swimming Lessons:

A couple of times a week we take the Children’s Home kids swimming after they get home from school. On Mondays we help teach the kids how to swim and do a devotion with them. In front of our ministry there are a group of younger boys our team as gotten close with. They are called street boys. The boys live close by with their families, but enjoy hanging out at the ministry site. Everyday, we take the older boys with us on the feedings to help translate and serve the people in the villages. We also take them swimming as well and sometimes take them out for ice cream.

My 26th B-day! Horseback to the Volcano

My birthday ended up being on our off day. As we crossed the lake on a small boat to the Island. All i kept thinking was thank you God for another breath taking b-day. Two more months left. I am so excited to see what else the Lord has planned. God bless!
