When you think of Africa what comes to mind?
Living in the bush
When you think of the conditions you live in, what comes to mind?
No water, weird food, no electricity
When you think of how you will be living each day what you think of?
Dirty, smelly, gross

All of those are the common answers that I have heard and thought of when I anticipated Africa. Many people think that there is
no civilization in Africa. That they all live in huts in the Sahara Desert. I honestly was really scared when I thought of what it might be like when we got to Africa.
So we got to Nairobi and it looked just like downtown Fresno but even a little nicer. A big city with high rise buildings. And now we are in Lang’ata, which is 15 minutes from the main part of town, it is quite the same. When we walk to the church everyday we walk next to a busy street. We are living in a flat in what looks like an apartment complex.
The people here are not any different from the people in America. They all
dress nice, are
really kind and go through some of the
same problems that we face. The church we are working with has a huge building and a congregation of about 400. Kenya

is actually a
Christian nation with 80% confessing Christians. They remind me a lot of America actually.
So really they don’t all live in huts, they live somewhat like Americans.
Africa is really no different than home.
