Disobedience
Life can get hard and challenging and we may not desire to
follow Christ. We may disobey because we don’t feel like it. But it is in those
times when we obey Christ that our love for Him truly shows. Obedience despite
our feelings is very important.

Disobedience happens when we are lazy and give into our
earthly desires. I have been disobedient lately. I really wanted to just give
up. I didn’t want to seek God anymore because I was tired of trying. I desired
my own way instead of His.

We may also be disobedient because we fear. God may ask us
to do things we have never done before and we will have to step out on a limb
to do them. We fear: rejection, not getting our needs met, what others think,
etc.

John Piper put it great when he said,

So it stands to reason that God will be displeased with disobedience
because at every point it is an attack on his glory.
  • It puts the fear of man in
the place of the fear of God.
  • It elevates pleasure in
    things above pleasure in God.
  • It seeks a name for itself
instead of a name for God.
  • It consults the wisdom of
self instead of being satisfied with the will of God.
  • And it sets more value on
the dictates of self than on the dictates of God and thus attempts to
dethrone God by giving allegiance to the idol of the human will.

A lot of the times I am disobedient because I am not in the
mood or am lazy and sometimes I fear the feat before me. But it is truly
beautiful when you are obedient. I am on this trip because I answered God’s
call. I came on this trip know it will be  hard physically, mentally, and
spiritually. But I am choosing to be obedient despite all the costs.
