The Philippines recently experienced a Typhoon, which caused
major flooding throughout the city. Many homes were destroyed due to the
flooding. Families relocated to the trash dump under the freeway, which
contains the aftermath of the flooding.

These families sift through another persons treasure as they
find anything they can to survive or make money. I find Dvds, remotes, paper,
cloth and toys, some of which I have in my own home. These families go without
food and the basic necessities of life. Many of them resort to marijuana, Rugby
(a solvent they sniff) or cigarettes to temporarily satisfy their hunger.

We visit these families every Tuesday and Friday afternoons
for our outreach. These people and especially the kids thrive off of our attention
and love. We often times try to bring them food or water but the most important
aspect is the love of Christ. We could bring as much food as we want but in two
weeks we will be gone and they might still go hungry. If food is all that we
will bring to them then they may be spending an eternity in Hell. We are hoping
to bring them Bibles soon and continue to share testimony about how much Christ
loves them.

Their hunger and poverty is not a physical need but a spiritual one. I know they are hungry for the love and satisfaction that they receive in Christ. Pray for these families that they may see Christ through us. Also that God would provide a meal for them everyday and make drugs and alcohol unavailable.
