Dear Friends and Family,
Happy New Year! As we enter a new year I have begun to look into my
options after my graduation next December 2009. Many of you heard about my
recent trip to Romania and how God impacted my life through it. He has been
working in my heart as my “itch” for world missions has been getting stronger.
I felt the Lord preparing my heart for what was to come in the area of missions
but never expected the opportunity that lay ahead!
One day, while searching the Internet for mission opportunities, I
stumbled on the Adventures in Missions (AIM) site. They offer a program called
The World Race (www.theworldrace.org) in which you embark on a journey to 11
countries in 11 months. I was immediately drawn to this program and my desire
only grew stronger as I asked the Lord if this was something for me. I finally
applied and was accepted to go January 2010. During The World Race, I will
abandon all that the American life has to offer and live a life that Jesus led
during his ministry here on earth. Therefore I will be completely dependant on
God as I live in community with more than 40 young adults broken into teams of
6 or 7. As we backpack through each country, we will partner along side other
existing relationships that other organizations have established and help them
continue to further God’s kingdom. I have always longed to get out of my
comfort zone and share the hope that Christ has to offer. Through this trip I
know God will form me into the woman that He is calling me to be.
I am not the only one who will be able to take part in this ministry for
Christ but you have that opportunity as well. The most important way that you
can support me is through your prayers. I would love for you to commit, if you
can, to pray for me everyday that I am gone. Another huge way that you can
share in this ministry is financially. I need to raise $16,000 in order to take
part in this incredible journey. You may donate in three ways: give a one-time
donation, donate monthly, or give on my blog (http://victoriamaynez.theworldrace.org)
with a credit or debit card. I have calculated that if 10 committed $25 a
month, 10 committed $50 a month and 8 committed $100 a month each for 10 months
I would meet my goal before I left! I would love for you to prayfully consider
donating to further God’s kingdom though supporting me!
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which
invites you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures
In Missions. Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with all necessary
information. In turn, they will send you a receipt. They request that you send
all donations by June 2010. Adventures In Missions is registered with the
Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Donors will
receive receipts for their gifts with the understanding that the disbursement
of those gifts lies completely at the discretion of Adventures In Missions and
that the gifts are non-refundable and non-transferable, per IRS regulations.
Gifts may be tax deductible; please consult a tax advisor.
Although my trip is a year away, I know there is a
lot to be done before I leave and while it is a challenging process I am all the more
excited! For more specific ways to pray for me and to hear about my
preparations visit my blog at http://victoriamaynez.theworldrace.org.
I cannot wait to be challenged and led by the Holy Spirit in many radical ways.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship
of the Holy Spirit be with you all this new year! (2 Cor. 13:14)
With His love,
Victoria Maynez
