Yall…… I am halfway done with the Race. I’ve spent time in 3 different countries and have lived on two different continents in the past 4.5 months. Someone pinch me cause I am in shock. Most of the time I think it’s going pretty slow but the days forsure add up and here I am, half way done. WHAT.

Sometimes I’m so in awe of this awesome life God has blessed me with. I am overwhelmed by the Fathers love for me and for the beautiful people I encounter everyday. Recently, the Lord has opened cool doors for me to share the gospel through my tattoos, which I recently added another one to the collection (check Facebook). It has been a seriously great time here in South Africa. I don’t think I’m leaving, sorry guys.

We recently started teaching physical education at Simon’s Town High, a place where our ministry host was the first colored person there about 20 years ago. Now the place is over 95% colored. Simon’s Town is home of the South African Navy and is one of the more beautiful places I’ve seen lately. The school has a rugby field and tennis courts that are high on the mountain and overlook the harbor and mountains. It’s straight from a postcard.

My team and I teach ages ranging from kindergarten to seniors. Simon’s Town has students who travel from 5 minutes to 2 hours…every morning. It has a hostel that is connected through the maritime school. It takes brilliant students, after being tested, out of the Bush and brings them to live in the hostel, for free. Once they graduate they have a guaranteed job. It’s a pretty rad program.

Today we taught 12th grade and I ran sprints with a few of the boys. I was left in the dust, it was a sad sight for all. I’ve tried to pick up tennis, but I constantly keep finding myself searching for lacrosse sticks… There are none.

The kids we teach are filled with some bad attitudes. We, through love, try and connect with them on a different level then most teachers at Simon’s Town High. At the end of each class we spend about 10 minutes sharing about the gospel with them and seeing where they’re at with their faith.

If you are just scrolling through this, please at least read this part.

Most of the kids are extremely talented in athletics, which is track and field. There’s a lot of soccer players, as usual. A lot of the boys love rugby. We also have some tennis lovers. They find themselves while playing sports, but the school doesn’t have enough money to pay for uniforms or better sports equipment. Which leads to students not being to play sports because they can’t afford cleats, or athletic wear to play in. It’s hard for us to teach the willing students new sports because we don’t have the right equipment. This is where YOU can help us. If you have any old sports equipment that you are willing to donate, let’s talk. If you are willing to financially support us, let’s talk too. Let’s just talk in general.

If you would like to support towards Simon’s Town High’s athletic department, you can email me anytime or message me about more information!

You all rock. I love you and I am beyond excited to hug your faces and eat chipotle with all of you. I’ll be seeing you in only a few months 🙂
