Here’s a video of our month in the Philippines where we loved on street children. The organisation we partenered with, picks the kids up in the streets and have 4 day camps in the mountains where the children are loved on, fed, get counseling, are encouraged to find hope in Christ. When they get to camp the kids are high on solvant and it takes them a day to get down from the drugs, during the camp is usually the only time that they spend clean of drugs and it is a very vulnerable moment for them, where they face reality and where their hearts are most open to receiving love.
It is heart breaking to know that these small children need drugs to get through the day. At first they act all though, but it is only a facade it does not take long before the kids warm up and you can see their immense need for love, it overcomes all barriers. After a day I was called mom and sister, the craving they have for a family for caring got to me like a ton of bricks I wanted to be their mom and sister and all that they needed but soon enough they would go back to where they call home, a dirty halley in Manila, behind a dumpster.
The girl’s camp especialy got to me, these grils 11 to 17 years old are almost all involved in prostitution, this is the only life they know of, abuse is a regular part of their daily lives. The pain that I was seeing in their blank beautifull black eyes was unspeakable of. After a day 2 girls ran away, back to their pusher, my heart broke in a milion pieces.
Guys I still need 700 $ by the end of this month 30th of august or I will be sent home. The 30th of August is my birthday will I be sent home or will I get to spend 3 more fabulous months serving the least reached communities of this world ?
