How many times have we thought “Whoa God, this is not the situation I planned for.” How many times have we questioned the situations we are in? That is something I struggle with so much especially with being confronting with some troubling news lately about someone very dear to me. I would just love to sit God down and  say “Here’s the deal God, you got this all messed up. Luckily, I am here to catch your mistake and we can fix this.” Sadly, we all know that is not how it works.

We all would like to think that we know whats going to happen in the next hour. or minute. or second. The cold reality is we have no idea. No clue if you are going to be on cloud nine or instantly hitting rock bottom. Proverbs 16:9 Says “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” God reassures us that He is the one in control. To some people that sounds tyrannical. To me this brings peace. The God of the Universe is leading my path. He promises us that we can and will overcome this. 1 John 5:4 tells us that by our faith in Christ we have already won. It says “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.”

God promises us a light at the end of the tunnel. He promises he knows whats best. These hard times WILL pass. Just like the dark, just like the shadows. They never can stay. The light of a perfect savior always shines through.

“I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.” -Sam (Lord of the Rings)
