“I don’t understand how you’re on a mission trip. You’re going to malls, living in normal homes, eating good food, sleeping in beds, wearing nice clothes and make up…”
Since when does a mission trip require people sleeping on floors, starving, having ratty clothes and going make up free? All of those things I have experienced at some point so far, but that’s not the purpose of why I’m here. It’s not the reason I moved thousands of miles away from home, or the reason behind leaving everything I’ve ever known. It’s far more than giving up the material stuff. It’s about where your heart is.
My mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus everywhere. To serve and love people because He loved me first; He loved all of us first.
I want you to experience the love of Jesus that He’s waiting to freely hand you. Accept the new abundant life He’s offering. I don’t want you to miss the relationship like I almost did. I haven’t always been a believer. I didn’t grow up in a Christian home, I don’t have Christian parents, or even any Christians in my family (..yet). I didn’t have any faith in a god whatsoever. I saw everything as a coincidence, seeing good vs. bad, but never God vs. Satan. I’ve been there, I’ve fought through this life on my own without the need for God. And praise the Lord because now that I have Him, how much sweeter is His company! He offers us a new life that we could never find on our own.
After continually settling for what this world has to offer and gaining nothing but brokenness and pain, some have concluded that good things never last, making it hard to believe that there is something genuinely good out there. But I’m telling you there’s one thing that is. And He’s waiting to draw near to you just as you are. He’s waiting to give you peace and comfort right now in your brokenness. To give you hope. To give you a purpose to live for. But the thing is He’s not going to force you to follow Him or to choose Him because He desires an authentic relationship with you. The God that I serve can perform miracles, break chains, restore hearts, bring death to life, share true love, and the list goes on and on. God is infinite. He’s not asking you to follow a set of rules, He’s asking you to simply follow Him.
That’s why I’m here. To share this message to the lost and broken hearted. Not to try and make my life look cool over social media, none of that matters. I want to serve and love others the way Jesus did when His feet roamed the earth. For everyone that can look different and be anywhere. God just happened to send me to Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa, soon to be Nicaragua and who knows where else after. Whether I’m in a first world country or a third world country, I want my mission to look like the hope that God has for the world. What matters is where your heart is, who it’s filled with, what and who it thirsts for, and if it’s ready to be open to others. I’ve found my purpose and I encourage you to let God show you yours.
What matters in your heart?
