First day of work today, and I chose to focus my efforts on the soccer field. We need to clear the field of rocks, grass and weeds that have cropped up randomly across the field before we pick up some squares of grass and start getting the field growing. It might be strange that my first choice in jumping into this year of missions work is doing some manual labor, but I’m definitely appreciating getting these blisters over with early. There’s something liberating in getting your hands dirty and something significant in seeing the fruit of your labor, your sweaty brow and dirty fingernails. It’s also a privilege to contribute to this ministry that is so obviously after the heart of Christ in addressing a very real need in the community with the services they offer.

I have an early morning shift at the orphanage helping the older boys get ready for school, so I’m calling it a night.

For the week of launch, there was a bit of a video-making competition with all the teams there on Q and R squad. This was essentially just a time to make sure every team was reasonably comfortable with throwing together a video, get the creative juices flowing, and spur on some team unification by way of competitiveness. The theme for the video was “Things I Never Knew.” And now, for your viewing pleasure, the Team Shabach submission:

Intro :: Needtobreathe – “Let Us Love”
Michael’s spoken word background :: Album Leaf – “Last Time Here”
