When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
Luke 2:15-20
The most humble and common among the population of Bethlehem were the first missionaries to tell the good news of the the birth of Christ child. They didn’t have high educations, yet they were used by God in an incredible way. Like them I don’t have a seminary degree, yet God has called me. I constantly struggle with letting go and letting God use all of me.
Moses was the son of a slave, yet He lead God’s people.
David was the youngest of his father’s sons, and a simple shepherd boy and he became King of Israel.
Joseph was a carpenter and Mary was a virgin yet they were chosen to be the parents of Jesus.
Paul was a persecutor of Christians but God called him to be a missionary.
Today is a new day, and a new year. What does God have in store for us? Where will He lead us? I’m headed out on an adventure this year; let us let God move. I struggle constantly with letting go, but God wants all of me. I’m excited for a year of growth this year, let’s pray together for the spreading of the good news all over the world this year. How can we not want to go tell people about God’s love?
