I’m
pretty sore. Don’t worry though it’s a good
sore. Kind of like the sore you have
after you ran 8 miles or played hockey for 2 hours and you can’t open your hand
because your fingers are too swollen.
Yesterday we spent the day at Victoria
Falls which, by the way, puts Niagara to shame.
Then we came back and I did some work on the rock wall, and probably did
a little more then I should since it’s been about a year and half since I’ve
climbed, but that explains why I’m “good sore”.
This has been a great de-brief.
As much as we all missed the rest of our squad, it was also nice to have
a de-brief with just us. It really
allowed us to go deeper then we normally would have, and it was much more
relaxing then normal as well. But
tomorrow morning we’ll be boarding a bus back to Lusaka to meet up with our
contact, Bishop John Mambo.
God had clearly told us that He
wanted us to go to Zambia, but we had no idea what we were supposed to be doing
there. Sammie began coordinating
transportation up there but with a week and half left we still had no idea what
our ministry was going to look like. She
had sent an email to the YWAM in Lusaka and they forwarded it to hundreds of
ministries in the country but we hadn’t heard anything from most of them and
who we had heard from wasn’t feasible.
Until Bekah, whose dad is a preacher for the Church of God, googled “church
of God, Zambia” and found a church of God orphanage in Zambia. We called and 10 minutes later we had a
contact. It’s amazing how thing’s work
out when God opens a door for you.
I personally spoke to Brother Mambo
2 days ago and got off the phone more excited to work with him then I was when
I called him. As it turns out they are
very excited to receive us because we are an answer to their prayers. It was difficult to understand his accent
over the phone but it sounded like they were opening an orphanage this month
and needed a lot of help. I wish I knew
more about what our ministry looked like this month but we’ll find out more
later. All we know is that he’ll be
there to pick us up tomorrow afternoon in Lusaka.
I’m not sure what the internet
situation will look like this month.
Zambia is a poor country with poor internet anyway, so like any other
new month we’re better off assuming we won’t have it. But I’m very excited about what God is going
to do this month. It’s been very obvious
that He was very involved in getting us here and leading us to Brother
Mambo. I’m also very excited since Team
Manna is the healthiest we’ve ever been as a team. Many of us now refer to each other as a
family, which is a huge jump from Laos!
So, as always, thank you for your prayers and support and I’ll blog
again as soon as I can!
