I have a thought. When I come home,
if I can’t find any work in the states I could come back to Phnom
Penh and be a tuktuk driver. Think about it. Most tuktuk drivers
are Cambodian and speak very little english and can’t even read a
map. I, on the other hand, am the opposite of all of those things.
Phnom Penh is much more touristy then I thought. So think about some
European or American tourist looking for a ride back to their hotel
or guest house. They look and see a Cambodian driver but then, they
notice this tall white driver reading “USA Today”. Who would you
choose?

But like I said, just a thought. This
was our last week of ministry, and thats always kind of sad. We said
our good-byes to both groups of kids. With Good Shepherd we did our
final lessons and then we had a sweet dance party. It was real hard
leaving my boys but it felt right. It’s hard to explain, especially
since it was so hard to leave Zachary in Haiti. But I just felt
better about it. Then in Love in Action, we spent our last two days
with the boys there in an all out melee. We couldn’t have asked for
a better last couple of days. Today(Saturday) we helped move the
YWAM base we had been staying at all month to a new location. It
wasn’t very far, but it’s pretty sweet. So at least we get to
experience the nice new house for 2 nights before we leave for Siem
Riep for de-brief on Monday. Other then that, it’s been a pretty
uneventful week.

Something I did want to share with all
of you is a passage that has been on my heart for several weeks. It
literally won’t leave, so when that happens I like to share it.

“…Awake O’ sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

I’ve spent a lot of time, meditating on
this verse. And I think the reason I’ve fallen in love with it is
because of it’s beauty and simplicity. In so few, but poetic words.
This passage describes every Christ followers blessing, calling and
struggle.

The first two lines is our blessing.
Because at some point everyone who now follows Christ and walks in
the Truth, once walked in lies. We were all dead to Christ. We were
floating around in the darkness of our world, living lies, consumed
with ourselves, and dead. But then one day God spoke to us through
the darkness. And it was so loud and lovely that it broke through.
And you were so entranced and curious at this voice that encompassed
so many things that you knew existed but never actually thought could
be yours. You answered Him back. However long that took for you,
but you answered Him back. And since that day, no matter how hard
life gets. You always have at least one reason to thank God.
Rejoice, because one day He called out to you and you’ve been His
ever since.

The last line speaks of Christ shining
on us, after we’ve risen “from the dead”. If you read the verse
before and after this verse. John talks about how when things are
shined on by such immense light, they begin to reflect that light as
well. Kind of like the moon. That is what God is calling us to do.
Reflect His light to the world, through love. We stumble and fall
into sin when we decide we want to be the sun and not the moon. We
want to shine our own lights and not the light that’s given to us by
the Father. But when we fall and get weary, we soon learn that it
won’t work because by ourselves we have no light to give off.

Keep us in your prayers. We’ll be in
Siem Riep for about a week for de-brief. So just pray that God
speaks to us then and gives us strength and restores us from the
previous month of ministry. I’m also hoping to get all my Cambodia
picture’s uploaded for everyones viewing pleasure during de-brief.
