OK so most of you have probably heard all the news reports and publicity that this website, AshleyMadison, is getting. For those of you that haven’t, AshleyMadison.com is a website where someone married can go and have an affair on their spouse. Their catchphrase of “Life is short, have an affair” tells you just about everything you need to know about their morals. I had heard of the website in passing and didn’t really think much of it, but this morning when I came in to work, the TV in the support area was on the news and they were doing a piece on it. And it seemed like the longer I stood there watching it, the more angry and frustrated I got.
I suppose the most frustrating thing isn’t that the service is out there and available. That kind of stuff has been going on as long as people have been having affairs. What really frustrates me is how bold they are about it. How they aren’t ashamed of what they’re marketing, and that what their marketing is so socially acceptable. It just makes me sad to think how love, commitment, and honesty are all valued so low anymore.
This is a short blog for once, but really I said all that to say this: People are getting more bold in their sin and corruption everyday. As watered down luke-warm Christians, who aren’t really sure what we believe or why we believe it, how do we stand a chance of being lights to the world. We need to be praying for a boldness and certainty in the gospel we walk. Because you might not be a aware of it but the enemy isn’t hiding anymore. They aren’t ashamed of who they are, so why are we?
