It doesn’t seem like that long ago,
that we had arrived in San Juan for launch training. But here we
are, and we’ll be leaving for Port au Prince, Haiti tomorrow morning.
It feels like our last week in Arroyo
Cano was a blur. We didn’t have hardly any structured ministry time
which allowed us plenty of ATL(Ask The Lord) prayer time. Through
these times of listening prayer, we were directed as a team to pray
over certain places in Arroyo Cano and with different people. One
lady, named Marque, owns a tostada and empanada stand that we went to
pretty frequently. We felt that the Lord was leading us to go pray
for her. So we go in there and as always she greets us with a warm
smile. But once Amanda translates that God lead us here to pray for
her, her smile faded and she began to weep. Through tears she told
us about health problems with her parents, issues with her son,
problems with her business, etc. That is just one of many stories of
God’s faithfullness leading us to people who need His love and
encouragement. So you can understand how leaving on the 28th
was so hard.
The next day in San Juan we learned
about the ministry we’d be involved with in Haiti. We’ll be working
with a C3 orphanage in the south-west most point of the country.
Like just about everything with the World Race, we don’t know many
specifics. We don’t know what specifically we’ll be doing or what
our living conditions will be like or how often we’ll have access to
the internet.
I feel that January was a month of
incredible blessing. Yes, we struggled with difficult kids and I was
very homesick for about a week and a half. But all those served to
work a greater purpose that God had in mind. This was definitely a
month of humility for me and seeing where God needs to grow. But at
the same point it was a month of building up where God showed me some
of my gifts and given me confidence in those. Even though there is
some fear in the squad about Haiti in general I feel very at peace
with it. God has already warned me that we’ll need the blessings we
received from the DR to get us through Haiti. But He has also
comforted me with the promise that He is a good shepherd and anything
that would go after the sheep have to get through the shepherd first.
So thank you to all of my prayer
warriors back home, I’m very thankful for you. Please continue to
pray over Haiti for us, that God would go before us and that He would
equip us. Also that we would have peace because we are not serving
for victory but out of victory. It’ll probably take us about 3 days
to travel to our ministry site so I’ll try to get word to everyone
with how I’m doing whenever I have the oppurtunity.
