So, it’s 5:30 in the morning. And
Nathan and I just got back from a 4 AM prayer service at the church,
and as soon as it let out my immediate first reaction was to share my
experience with everyone. Of course, as an american, when I heard 4
am prayer service I thought about everyone sitting around and giving
their prayer requests and then everyone doing a popcorn prayer with
whatever the Lord leads you to pray. Do you think thats what
happened? Uh…no. We get there and of course we’re american so
we’re the first ones there, but soon there’s over 20 people there.
And then they began praying. Not silently to themselves, sitting
comfortably in the pew. But standing up, out loud, at times yelling,
with their hands raised. Then after awhile they would bust out a
worship song. And when I say worship song I don’t mean sing a hymn
in a soft monotone voice. I mean belting out a song of celebration
with dancing and clapping. And then they would pray some more, and
then sing some more.

I think above all else, its the
unhindered excitement and passion that these people have for their
God is what surprised me the most. But why should I be surprised?
Think about everything God has done. Why shouldn’t we be excited and
want to celebrate who God is and what He has done? And let me tell
you. If you ever want the Holy Spirit to fill a place faster then
you can ask Him too, start shouting out thanksgiving and praise and
worship Him in song and dance. Because you could feel the Spirit in
that place, I felt like I was glowing when I left.

Probably what I’ve been impressed with
the most this morning and really this month has been the kids. This
morning there were about a dozen orphans at the service and they were
singing and praying as hard as anyone. And then on top of that, with
their nightly dance parties/worship(if lost, see my lost blog).
These kids seem to get it. But, again, I shouldn’t be surprised.
Jesus said that if you wanted to get in the kingdom you needed the
heart of a child. Well who better to have the heart of a child
then…a child. Who cares if they aren’t as smart or don’t think as
logically as adults do, most of the time its our logical thinking
that holds us back from experiencing everything God is doing. God
has really been working in me about kids this month. I’m still
praying and thinking through some things so be expecting a seperate
blog about that sometime soon.

But, anyway, I know this has been kind
of a random and scattered blog. But I was just so pumped this
morning that I wanted to share with all of you. Have fun praying…
