It was the last night of training camp, we were celebrating how far we’ve all come with an extremely awesome dance party. Things had wound down and there were maybe 12 of us still left inside hanging out. All of a sudden Jordan’s (one of my incredible teammates) back started hurting, intensely. She was about to head out to the hospital but before she left we all layed hands on her and prayed for her healing. Nothing happened. So they started up the hill to the car, when Jory (another one of my incredible teammates) stopped her and said “I feel God’s saying ‘Don’t do that’ or just ‘Don’t’ “. Then I started feeling stirred, I didn’t feel right letting her go to the Hospital with out us – (Jory and I), after all she is now our sister and an overwhelming sense of protection came over me. I remember thinking ‘I have to go’ it turned out the group around me was in agreement with that and the six of us piled in a car and left to catch them. We caught up to them quickly and even though I think we knew how to get there for some reason we all got lost for about 5 or 10 minutes.
Praise The Lord.
We arrived just moments after 4 people got shot literally RIGHT IN FRONT of the emergency room entrance. We made it in and Precious (yet another incredible teammate) was immediately drawn to a woman she started talking to her, we’ll call her Rosa. It turns out Rosa was the mother of one of the boys who was shot. She prayed for her and we all sat down to wait for Jordan to get in.
About an hour later a Dr. came out with word that one of the other boys had died… His mother was in the waiting room with us.. Her cries, her agony, her screaming is something that i will never forget. I felt so heart broken and so helpless, unable to do anything. Precious came and said “We need to pray for Rosa’s son, there’s a reason why I met her.” Silently we all prayed for him…
” Father, I BEG YOU.. give this man another chance.. give him this testimony.. Lord go to him and heal him.”
We found out later that the boy we prayed for was the only one out of the 4 that lived. Praise the Lord that he kept us long enough to miss the shooting and that he sent us to pray, i’m so glad that Rosa’s son lived. I’m not sure I have a grasp on the moral of the story yet but there it is, one random hardcore night when God kept us safe and used us in an unexpected way.
