A few days ago I sat and pondered God for a bit. That’s a large
undertaking.

It was morning. It was before coffee. That generally
means anything I get at that time of the day is God-inspired because I
simply do not function at 7 a.m. meetings… EVER.

“What do you
picture when you think of God”
was the question posed.

I closed
my eyes, also dangerous at 7 a.m. before coffee, to see what imagery
would be produced. I was actually expecting to see nothing and
accidentally fall back into slumber mode.

Instead I had a
beautiful picture:
There was a little girl and her father was
sitting beside her. The girl was busy painting a picture filled with the
vibrant colors of a sunset. As she finished her last strokes, she sat
back beaming at her work. She glanced at her father with that same
toothy grin and he returned a huge smile, a pat on the back and a
twinkle in his eye.

“That’s beautiful sweetheart,” he beamed,
“Now watch this.” And with just a few spoken words the sky filled with
those same vibrant colors and became the most beautiful sunset ever
created. Without a word He just turned back to his little girl with a
mischievous grin and eyes dancing with delight as she stared with
wide-eyed wonder.

It made me smile. It made me laugh. It reminded
me of the Father’s love. It reminded me that He is the Creator of all.
It reminded me that “In the beginning was the Word”. It reminded me of His joy and delight in us, His children. And it
reminded me that He gives good gifts to His children.

That’s a lot of reminders at 7 a.m.

Good reminders.

What
part of God’s nature and character is He wanting to remind you of today?
