Putting on pants one leg at a time is a normal start to any day I suppose; however, this time as I sat down to do a little work I had a rather uncomfortable feeling… a crawling, stinging feeling.

Is it safe to say that is never good?

The culprit? Ants.

Small, annoying, biting Haitian ants.

I now have a new perspective on the phrase “ants in my pants”. It is a perspective I would not have been upset to miss out on but  in the end it brought more laughter than pain.

What amazes me is how painful those little guys are. To be so small they pack a big sting.

Ants to me are proof that the little guys can make a big difference. In fact they can even carry 20 times their body weight. That’s like a child being able to lift a car!  Pretty impressive if you ask me.

It seems they rarely go at it alone though. Instead they bring their whole family… hundreds, thousands even… sounds like a Southern family reunion. If one can carry 20 times its weight, what happens when you get hundred working together toward the same goal?

Sometimes life gets frustrating. Sometimes it may even feel like you are a kid trying to move a car, or an adult trying to push a mountain out of the way. Though we may feel small, like grasshoppers staring down giants, we have the same power in us that raised Christ from the dead (Eph. 1:19-21). There is no obstacle to big for God.

I’m also reminded of a passage in Leviticus about the blessings of obedience:
“You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before
you.  Five of you will
chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your
enemies will fall by the sword before you.”
Lev. 26: 7-8

There is nothing to hard for God, but sometimes we have to work together. The cool thing about that is then God shows up and multiplies the effects taking out even more obstacles and enemies. I like multiplication much better than addition.

Is there a mountain you’re staring at?  Do you need a community of believers to come around you to help fight on your behalf?

I know I do.
