Dust rises, music fills the streets and everywhere children yell
out “Americano!” and run up to give you some “knuckle love” we call it.
This week I´ve been immersed in a culture of lively, extroverted,
relational people (everything I´m naturally not!) and they love to have
fun. Currently we are in a city called San Juan. The afternoons are hot
and so we have been trying to stay in the shade when possible. The late
afternoons have been filled with playing with the kids in the street
and trying not to get hit by motorbikes which are the way to get around
here it seems, except for us – we get to use Pat and Charlie. It´s
considered rude to not stop and talk to people once you´ve met them so
count on getting nowhere in a hurry or on time. My team has especially
befriended a guy at the local bakery, Ivan, and so it´s probably good
that our team isn´t staying here or I´d gain more weight. Oh yes… the
food is excellent but I am already tired of drinking water and have
taken back the habit of caffeinated drinks when given the opportunity.

Tommorow Team Manna will be leaving for Arroy
Cano in the mountains to work with a local church there. We are the
team that gets live the rugged life for the rest of the month –
outhouses, bucket showers, tenting. We don´t know all the details but
it is a farming community and we can look forward to working with the
kids, building relationships, and probably even helping farm. My
favorite part of that is that they grow coffee there – a precious drink
that I´ve not had now in almost a week. After our first week there we
will be doing some traveling and ministering to some more communities
further up the mountain – Los Montacitos, Los Frios, La Cucarita and
Bohechio.

Please be in prayer for our
team over the next 3 weeks. Pray we will be able to share the love of
God with these precious people and that we would have wisdom as we make
plans. I have also acquired a bit of a nasty lookig spider bite and
some sinus/sore throat issues probably due to the pollution and lack of
sleep and I need my energy if I´m going to be hiking mountains.

Love you!
