Do you remember that feeling?  That feeling you get as a child right before Christmas. It’s a childlike giddy, butterfly feeling that makes you warm and releases a sort of electric current inside your body.  I know many of you probably haven’t had that feeling for Christmas for many years.  Maybe that’s because we have had too many Christmases or that we no longer have any wonder as to what is under that tree; usually we know what to expect.  Or maybe it’s because we have forgotten to take joy in the little things. Or to find excitement in the unexpected.

This year, the holiday season is different for me. Once again I find myself elated.  Ecstatic with the idea of the end of this year and the start of another.  When I start to think of it my stomach does flips. Not of fear or anxiety but of pure excitement, readiness.  Instead of being ready for the unexpected gifts under the tree, I’m ready for the new life of the year to come… of the journey ahead. Ready for the unexpected.
