Hey Everyone!
This month is already off to a crazy and awesome start! We arrived in Ethiopia the 31st with no agenda and no place to stay. Our only thing of the month is to find future contacts for the World Race. We get to Addis Ababa and stay at OH Life Center with Ordinary Hero. An alumni World Racer now works for Ordinary Hero and let us stay for two nights while we were trying to find a place that was in our budget.
Then when we didn’t know where to stay, a women missionary from the organization Strong Hearts helped us find another missionary contact to stay with. Guess where this missionary is from…..SEATTLE!!! Not only is the missionary family from Seattle but they were the area director for Young Life in the Seattle area and they knew my area director!!! How awesome is that?!
From this we have met contacts that keep popping up! We have met with an organization called Children’s Haven. This organization helps with orphan prevention for girls below college level. They provide a nutritious meal for the girls after school, help with tutoring, and help with medical needs. They have 105 girls already and the waiting list is over 200 girls. We have also visited Strong Hearts and their orphan prevention program which was so cool to see. They give these children a place to stay while their mom is at work. Sometimes they will help their moms find a job with a talent they learn. We have also been to Endino Hope and Hope for the Hopeless here and let me tell you these organizations and the people that run it are amazing. They are so passionate and so full of God’s love. Each contact we have met was such a great experience and it is only the first week!
Can’t wait to tell you what God has in store for us this week! I am expecting it is going to be crazier than this week!!!
