Looking at this month in Rwanda and my last blog, I can say that it was a month of working from rest, reflection, and joy. Each day was different even with a schedule. Everyday of ministry was filled with joy. If I wasn’t feeling excited about ministry, by the end of ministry I wouldn’t want to leave.
I think on the race I sometimes focus on what job or ministry we need to get done and how efficiently I can get it done. Then afterward feeling exhausted I step our of ministry and turn my brain off. As the days go on during the months I get more tired. Less excitement and more feeling like it’s just work for me on some days.
Here though it’s been so different. As I mentioned in the last blog our contact wanted us to have rest and be able to take time to prepare for our ministry. She wanted her house to be a house of rest and be able to take time to prepare for our ministry. She wanted her house to be a house of rest jet like Mary and Martha’s house was a place of rest. Yet, Jesus was able to do sermons and that was what was needed So having this for us was a blessing from the first day.
As I sit here and reflect on the last month, I see a change in how I do ministry. Working from your rest. Instead of working and resting being separate, have them be together. Work should come from rest. So going to ministry having it be joy, peace, and rest then working from this in my heart.
This month has been peaceful to say the least. I got to see 200 kids shouting in joy and doing crazy dances all while teaching them what teamwork is and who God is. I got to be a child with them and celebrate in shouting for joy, doing horrible cartwheels, and picking up four years olds with missing teeth who can’t speak English but we are united in the Lord. Also, being in a women’s living room on the floor worshiping with 20 Rwandan women even though we can’t speak the language. Then being able to teach lessons on what community looks like. Not only that, but speaking at International Healing Center with 300 people listening. Then being able to worship with childlike faith and sweating up a storm because I was dancing so hard. There was dust rising in the church because of everyone dancing for the Lord.
Pastor Fatier has also started a program sponsoring children to be able to go to school! She has done this for a few years now. International Healing Center now is sponsoring 37 children to go to school! We got to meet with all these orphan children and hear there stories! It was amazing and there will be a video about these children to come in the next month!
If you feel like you want to know more about this ministry or help with this church, I have information to get in contact with Pastor Fatier!
Let me tell you, it has been a great month. International Healing Center, Paster Fatier, the people in the community, the people who helped serve us, and so many more made this month unforgettable. I couldn’t have asked for a better month.
At the end of Uganda, I was asked if I wanted to step into the role of Unsung Heroes Coordinator with a fellow teammate of mine! I accepted the position and am so excited to be able to serve our team in this way! Unsung Heroes Coordinator is coordinating and the contact between AIM in the office and our squad for connections and networking with finding new contacts in the countries we travel to.
I also wanted to let you know, our team found out we are going to be Unsung Heroes in Ethiopia next month! You can find more information about this on the World Race website! It is the first time that a team has ever been Unsung in Ethiopia!
