HEY YALL!!
I’m not exactly sure where to start, so I guess I’ll just start at the beginning and if you get bored then just skip to the end. 🙂
My name is Scottie Kelso Langston, and yes Scottie is my real name and not just a nickname and I also realize that it is pretty much a guy’s name, but I’m ok with that. 🙂 I was born in Memphis, TN on April 3, 1985 and have lived there since birth. I was raised in a Christian home with traditional southern values, so I’ve been active in my church since birth. I love my family very much and I am still very close to them. My immediate family consists of my parents, Keith and Anita and my older brother by three years, Ethan Martin and his wife Anna. Although my immediate family is small, my extended family on both sides is quite the opposite.

The first time I felt the call of missions was when I went to Belize with my youth group to work at an orphanage. It was there that I realized what an amazing thing it is to be able to show people the love of God and to share my faith with them. After high school I went off to college at Mississippi State University, following in the footsteps of my brother. After graduating with a degree in Clincial Exercise Physiology I decided that I needed a break from school and so I came back to Memphis to work at a local children’s hospital as a unit secretary. I also began working with the youth group at my home church, Second Baptist.  It was being around those youth that showed me that I can be a real mentor to young people and help lead them to become strong men and women of God. I went on a mission trip with them this past summer to Waco, TX to work in a very low income community, and it reminded me again that God was calling me for a bigger purpose, something outside the United States. That is when I began to research different opportunities available and I eventually came across Adventures in Missions, and ultimately The World Race.

When I came to the Adventures in Missions webpage and read more about The World Race, I immediately fell in love with the idea of going around world to tell others about Jesus. I hope to reach out to the untouched people around the globe and share with them that they too have the grace like rain falling down on them from heaven. I want to see God’s amazing beauty and feel the awesome presence of the Holy Spirit from all four corners of the world. I know this trip will strengthen my faith and perhaps even show me that I have a real future in the mission field.  This trip is a great opportunity to get my feet wet and really expereince what true mission work is all about.
