Through our Father’s Eyes:
If you were to ask me what would be one of the biggest reason’s why people struggle with falling into sin… I think I would tell you that it boils down to a lack of love and a lack of knowing their true identity. The main point I want to focus on is the way in which you see yourself. I see the lack of true identity taking a grip on many peoples lives today because they are allowing the worlds views on them to impact their decisions. I find this easy to notice due to the fact that identity has been a huge struggle in my life. I always turned to what others said about me or how they saw me as the deciding factor for the actions I made. This year has been a season of God pruning the branches filled with bad fruit of false identity and planting fruit of life that produce a truth in my life. God loves each and every one of us in a unique way and wants us all to know who we are to him. I want to challenge you to take sometime to explore the scripture and be in prayer and allow God to show you what you mean to him. Allow God to give you vision to see yourself like he does. You will be surprised, you will be encouraged, and you will feel loved by the Father.
Here are a few words that God has showed me about my identity:
Redeemed:“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone; the new has come.” 2 Cor. 5:17
Child of Light: “For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.” I Thessalonians 5:5
Royal/Holy: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
Chosen: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:16
Co- Heir of Christ: “And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.” Romans 8:17
Capable: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13
Blameless: “he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,” Colossians 1:22
Created in his Image: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
Accepted: “Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory.” Romans 15:7
Free: “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
Apart of His Plan: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Wonderfully Made: “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Psalms 139:14
Unique:“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
Saved by the gift of grace:“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2:8
I encourage you to place the words, God places on your heart, in a place where you will be remind of his love for you daily. I decided to place words on my bathroom mirror because I used to wake up daily and I would start the day off by pointing out the flaws I saw in my physical appearance, but now when I look into the mirror all I read is the truth that God has proclaimed over my life. Makes going about my day a lot more joyful and a lot more motivating.
