Hey hey hey, so I wanted to do this post on this phrase because I figured I could leave you and myself with a challenge to start the next year. I want you to think about the challenge while you read through the rest of the blog and try and think of how applicable it is.
Okay ready, the challenge is…. Within the life your living right now, are you doing things that will have an eternal impact?
This phrase of “here today and gone tomorrow” completely captures the concept of things being temporary. Which is what God has made me very aware of the past week or so.
I will start off with this, I am not surprised that I am more aware of how temporary everything is because my life seems to be on a time clock with my knowing that I will leave in August for nine months. Due to this awareness, God has shown me things I needed to be aware of, through how I spend my time. Too often I am not living in the moment or taking advantage of circumstances God gives me. I think of my life on a Monday-Sunday basis rather than seeking out how god can use me those days or how I can make a difference.
For me personally, yes I have been called to missions in other countries, but my mission work doesn’t start in August, it started when I decided to follow Christ.
I have always felt like my life would be something great and that a life of normality wasn’t going to be all that was in store for me. I know now that I was right in thinking that because God is planning on using me in incredible ways as he is all his sons and daughters, but it seems that I have been waiting around for that something incredible and haven’t done anything in the mean time. God uses us for his kingdom when we aren’t aware that he is, but at the same time we should have parts of our life where we are knowingly going after his kingdom and trying to make a difference. That looks different for everyone, because our callings are all different.
The main point of this is that my life and yours shouldn’t start being radical in the future, it should start now. The houses we live in, the towns we are in, the friends we have, the hobbies we enjoy, they are all temporary and fleeting things. The only thing that last forever is God and we can choose to use the temporary things as outlets to God but individually they mean nothing. I’m not saying drop all that you have and all that you do I’m just saying when you really start thinking and evaluating your life how much of it is actually going towards expanding the kingdom of God?
I’m sure the majority of y’all have heard this before but I challenge you to actually think about it and actually challenge yourself to do something about it. Ask God to open your eyes to ways you can spread his word and make a difference right Where you are.
After becoming more aware I realize that I don’t take as many opportunities as I should to share God or do his little God dares and to enjoy the very small amount of time I do have here in this life. Taking advantage of this temporary life for me I think looks like just praying that my eyes are always open to the tiny and large opportunities I am given where I can share my story or faith with someone and having God as my strength to follow through and do so.
It is easy to get caught up in our everyday life and forget that we have this as a staircase to something better but I challenge you to try and remember that and really look into how your life could change and how much the kingdom of God could grow when you start remembering that.
Accepting God as your savior isn’t enough, we have to chase after him and act on things he calls us to act on. Just like having a friend, you can’t just say you are friends, you must put in effort and pursue them. God is the same way but instead of simply just having a relationship with him we have to spread it and help other people become friends with him too, and with the recognition of how temporary life is we kinda all need to start ASAP! I know I do. I know I will not always know how that looks or what to do, but I know that if you pray and ask him he will give you an answer.
Those are my thoughts for today, I hope they made sense. Sometimes I feel like I just babble on whatever topic God lays on my heart. Either way we have an awesome God and I want a bajillion people partying it up and worshiping with me in heaven and understanding what an awesome God we have, so I’m going to do what I can to make that happen!
Y’all are great too, love to hear from y’all or have y’all subscribe as God uses me for this amazing journey! But for now, I’ll talk to yall later!
