This month has been awesome!  The entirety of 3rd Generation F Squad has been living and ministering together this month.  That is 45 people living and working in a very confined space.  Needless to say it got interesting at times. But overall it was fantastic.  It gave us plenty of time to dive deeper with each other and get to know others outside of our teams.  We have been working with a ministry here called Savage Ministries.  It is run by an amazing man of God named Joel Savage and his wife Maria.  They definitely have a heart for Peru and the people here in Trujillo.

Each week our ministry looked slightly different.

Our first week here we led a VBS for the kids in the area.  We had about 100 children show up each day to hear God’s Word.  Day 1 we learned about David and Goliath.  Day 2 was Jonah and the Whale.  Day 3 was Noah and the Ark. and Day 4 was Daniel in the Lion’s Den.  On Day 5 we through a big party for all of the kids complete with dancing, skits, and the gospel message.  Many children raised their hand to accept Christ at the end of the message.  We concluded the party by giving each child a toy.  It was a huge blessing to see the joy on their faces when they received these simple gifts.

Week two here was the week of physical labor.  We painted the school, inside and out, moved rocks and sand piles, and cleaned up outside the compound and made it much more presentable to those who visit.  We also were in charge of several church services throughout the week whether at the site church or at one of the other churches associated with Savage ministries.  We led youth services as well as regular adult services.

Week three ministry looked different for my team than the rest of the squad. We were on kitchen duty which means we planned, cooked, and served 3 meals a day for 45 people.  This pretty much consumed the majority of our days.  The rest of the squad was visiting local schools and jails to do various ministries their and share the love and message of Christ with the greater community.

Our last week in Peru was light on the ministry side.  We did go to the Women’s prison and got to share the gospel with close to 300 women.  There were about 100 women who raised their hands saying they wanted to accept Christ into their lives.  Love seeing the fruit of ministry. Because ministry was light we looked for every opportunity to love on the people of Trujillo and show them the love of Christ through our words and actions.  It was truly a blessing living and working in Peru.  It is a place that is in need of the Gospel and has a small handful of people who are dedicated to seeing the Kingdom of God expanded here in Peru. I’m glad I was able to be a small part of this journey alongside them.
