This evening, even though Amanda and I were feeling a bit under the weather, we ventured out to our first Austrian Christmas Market.  We went to the largest one in Vienna which is located in front of beautiful city hall pictured below.  Enjoy pictures from our evening.

We tried on a few hats to get in the holiday spirit.

One of the highlights of the evening was the free concert.  This band “sang” and “played” Christmas carols all evening.

While I was admiring handcrafted ornaments and other novelty items, Amanda was making new friends.

We also enjoyed trying out some of the local cuisine.  We shared a specialty pretzel for dinner.

In addition to the pretzel, we drooled over the abundance of delicious-looking sweets.  Note: We did not indulge since we are both sick and trying to avoid partaking in foods with high quantities of sugar (wise advice from Amanda Hamilton).

Although I managed to avoid the sweets, I did end my evening by treating myself to a warm beverage and souvenir mug.

In the end, I think the evening really has put me in the holiday spirit. I am ready to go home in a few weeks and look forward to spending Christmas with family very soon! 🙂
