Team Manna celebrated Christmas in July here in South Africa because even though we’ll spend nearly a year together, we won’t be together for Christmas in December.

We decorated the house we were staying in with a fireplace, Christmas tree, and Christmas tree ornaments (each team member made a minimum of three), as well as hanging our own socks as stockings.  We even borrowed a space heater special for the occaision (usually we have no heat).  Along with decorating, we prepared a Christmas meal including a Christmas ham, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatos, carrots, bread, fried zucchini, and a cookie cake with icing.  Two of our ministry contacts, Frank and Cindy, joined us for dinner.  We also had a little Bible study ending with the Christmas story before we exchanged gifts.  We even watched the movie “Elf” afterwards for the full Christmas effect.  We did a Secret Santa gift exchange which was all focused on the heart behind the gifts.  I drew Tim’s name for Secret Santa and created this video as his gift.  I love it so much, I just had to share it as it is not just about Tim, but our team as a whole.

Our Christmas celebration was a delightful day.  Being winter in South Africa, it was plenty cold enough to feel like Christmas… the only thing that could have made it better was snow and it was cold enough for snow, but it didn’t materialize on the ground when we woke up in the morning.

Enjoy the video! 🙂
