New Experiences…
As you can imagine, this lifestyle is a major change and shock to the system for many of us young adults on the trip. This week, I have been surviving by adjusting to the following changes: very little running water, occasional electricity, bucket showers, manually flushing toilets, throwing our toilet paper in the trash can and NOT in the toilet (otherwise you have to get in there and dig it out), flushing only for number 2 and not all the time, hand washing clothes, and walking EVERYWHERE! For those of you who know me, you know that these are NOT, I repeat NOT, common activities for me… in fact, it brings a lot of first time experiences. Community living is an interesting lifestyle particularly when it does not include the simple conveniences and luxuries we are used to.
