I just want to give you a sneak-peek into a day in the life of a World Racer — me in India. [and I picked today because it’s been a day of amazing abundance + pretty typical at the same time].
4:49am: Wake up to Skype THE Kati Downs — what a wonderful way to start the day! 🙂
Talk with Kati for an hour + then talk to a few other good friends.
7:00am: Morning devo/alone time on the roof.
7:30am: Breakfast with Jared. Laura + Amber join us for mystery meat sandwiches + Chai.
8:10 am: Board bus with Amber + Sarah to head to VBS.
8:11am: Realize we don’t know what bus stop we need…call Laura to get directions.
8:25am: Arrive at bus stop 35 minutes early. Nice.
8:30am: Break into a slum-alley cricket game — swing a bat — hit the ball into a bush. Oops. Apologize & continue walking to church.
8:35am: Arrive at church to find door still locked. Sit on stoop outside + talk to children hanging out there…
8:50am: VBS staff shows up + unlocks door.
9:00am-12:30pm: VBS!

This includes, but is not limited to…
- Doing the welcome chant.
- Sarah sharing the story of Noah + Amber/Me = actresses.
- I was Noah.

Amber was EVERYTHING else.
- The ark.
- Every animal the kids could name.
- The bird I sent out of the ark.
- The alter + the sacrifice I made.
- The rainbow.
- Playing “shipwrecked” — watching 25ish kids act like jellyfish + get seasick. Perfect.
- Eating chips & drinking Fanta.
12:30pm: Call Laura/Andrew/JoJo to find out where the rest of the team is + board an auto-rikshaw.
12:35pm: our rikshaw hits a car + stops in the middle of crazo traffic.
The rest of the times are approximate…
12:45pm: Rikshaw drops us off at a supermarket. We call JoJo + start trudging to find the rest of the team.
1:00pm: Realize we are trudging in the wrong direction + turn around + trudge the opposite way.
1:10pm: Give up trudging & sit on side of the road to wait for someone to find us.
1:20pm: See Laura’s springy-curly hair blowing in the wind & are rescued from being lost.
1:25pm: Reunite with rest of team + JoJo&Thelma [our contacts] + Pastor Paul [long-hair don’t care + super awesome contact] + Paul’s wife Anita.
1:30pm: Get in Paul’s car to ride to Hard Rock Café.
1:45pm: Arrive at HRC — join with rest of team + Paul’s friend, Alvin.
1:45-3:00ishpm: Eat an incredible meal — spinach/corn soup, BEEF cheeseburger, ice cream — while listening to amazing rock music — & sit in pain from the amount of food consumed + super grateful/blessed that Paul/Anita took us out & bought this awesome meal for us.
3:00ishpm: Hop on Alvin’s motorcycle & ride through Bangalore with him = awesome ride + Alvin showed me the oldest church in Bangalore + pointed out other cool things in the city.
3:45pmish: Arrive back at Capstone to climb up to the top level & see the amazing hang out place.
3:45-5:00pmish: Hang out with Anita & Paul + listen to Anita’s amazing testimony + drink coffee provided by Paul + take “band pics” on the roof + listen to JD jam on the guitar.
5:00pm: Leave Capstone to go to an ice cream shop with Paul + Jared + Thelma to hang out with/ make friends with the customers there.
5:00-7:00pm: Hang out at Polar Bear & meet a couple new people = awesome ministry time.
7:00pm: Board a rikshaw with Sarah + Thelma & head back to Grace Mansion.
7:35pm: Arrive at Grace Mansion + go to the rooftop kitchen for dinner.
8:00pm: Hug all of the members of team Eleutheroo who just arrived at Grace Mansion.
8:30pm: Team debrief/prayer time.
9:00pm: Write this blog.
9:30pm: Attempt to take a shower but realize the water isn’t working…so nix that idea.
10:15pm: Go to bed listening to a podcast of a Dr. John C. Bowling chapel service [what a sweet sound].
