Rafiki = friend! ๐
This month, I made a lot of new rafikis. I would love to introduce you to a few of them…
Joseph

Joseph was my door-to-door leader/translator. He is super cool. He’s a university student on holiday. After about a week of translating for us, I think he could have told Laura’s or my story without us being present. He was a trooper, though, and kept going with us. During our last week, he had to go to work and could not join us. We missed him. =/
Janet & Grace

If we met in America, these two amazing women would probably be my best friends. When Joseph was not available, they took Laura and me door-to-door. We hung out a few times outside of ministry as well. They, like Joseph, are super cool. They both outrageously encouraged me in my walk. AND. We laughed a lot – that’s always a plus.
Ruth

Ruth lived with us. She cooked and did laundry for our team the entire month. Oh man could she cook! Ruth is from Tanzania and does not speak much English. We were able to communicate through laughter and dancing. ๐ She was so funny to be around. Ruth always had a smile on her face and would greet me with “Na ku penda, rafiki!” [I love you, friend].
Teresa

Teresa also helped cook for us this month. She has such a sweet spirit. Tere is quiet, but wonderful. She always had a smile on her face. I loved talking to her and getting to know her this month.
I am so thankful God blessed us with new friends to share our month in Kenya. ๐
