Jambo from Nairobi!!
I cannot believe that I am typing this blog in AFRICA!
This morning THE Q landed in Nairobi, Kenya. I honestly cannot believe I am here. [after leaving Cambodia early in the morning…crossing the border to Thailand… & spending roughly 8 hours in the Bangkok airport].
We rang in 2011 standing in the airport waiting to board our flight. We celebrated over several time zones.
The flight was amazing – which could be because I had an entire row [3 seats] to myself so I naturally put the arm rests up, laid my Hannah Montana pillow down and cuddled up with my teddy bear & sheet & slept for about 9 of the 10 hours. I was definitely blessed on this plane! 🙂 I wish someone would have taken a picture of me when I woke up with major bedhead. [similar to what Kevin on Home Alone looks like when he wakes up & discovers his family is gone].
Even though we have only been in Africa for a few hours, I definitely love it already! The people are beyond friendly. The children are super cute. I cannot wait to spend the next 3 months on this continent. I am very thankful that my BFF Jill has taught me a little Swahili. I can greet people and be fairly polite already. 🙂
Our route has changed a bit. This month we will be in Kenya. In February we will be in Rwanda, and March we will be in Uganda. Please keep these nations in your prayers.
My team will leave Monday morning for Isibania – which [as I am told] is a small town bordering Tanzania, near Lake Victoria with Mount Kilimanjaro in the visible distance. [I’m praying I get the chance to step into Tanzania at some point]. annnnd… it happens to be "a little hotter" than any of the other places THE Q is going.
I really do not know much about our ministry or anything this month. I am not sure if I will have internet access or not – so blogging may be limited.
Sorry this is a short blog, but I really just wanted to check in and let you know where I am and what is going on as of right now.
I love you!
Samantha
