Gardening.
According to dictionary.com, gardening is "the act of cultivating or tending to a garden."
In the Philippines, when we were told we would be doing “gardening work,” we quickly found out that we would be cleaning plants out of a sewage-infested playground. Not the typical gardening experience.

In Malaysia, when we were asked to “garden,” we were handed a couple pairs of scissors and informed that we would be “cutting the grass.” That’s right – with scissors.
Here is my lawn mower:

Here I am, mowing the lawn:

I could not help but laugh. An area that would take my brother, Corwin, less than 20 minutes to mow, took our team two days to finish cutting.

As crazy as this whole “mowing” experience was, we did use the time to our advantage. We were able to have fun discussions and get to know each other a little more. Plus, laughter is good medicine, right? We love to laugh. We laugh a lot. How can you not laugh when you look at this?
No expectations, right?
Next month, when I’m in Thailand, if someone asks me to garden, I will probably just laugh and say,
BRING IT ON!
