Just a few things I learned or experienced while in the Philippines. Enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • In Tagalog, mabuti = good. In real life, my booty is good. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Flannel is the color of “MAN.” – Amy Duncan

  • My name is Ate Samonta. [ ah-tay. sa-mon-ta.] I’m convinced that I will not hear “SamAntHa” until I get back to the states next August.

  • No matter how many times I use bug spray, my legs will still be eaten to shreds…

  • I did dishes…HUNDREDS of dishes – multiple times this month [yes, Dad, I am capable of washing dishes].

  • This Pepsi-lover will drink Coke when it’s offered to her…

  • No matter how constipated one is, one should NEVER over-dose on fiber pills.

  • Some Filipino people enjoy making fun of “Americanos” because we’re white…but they do it in Tagalog so we don’t really know what they’re saying..

  • Team “fun nights” included a college basketball championship game, a John Mayer concert, ice cream, and climbing a volcano

  • As thrilled as I was to find out that Miley and the JoBros are well-known here, I must say that I am praying Malaysians do NOT have Bieber fever

    •
  • Singing karaoke to any Celine Dion song will never get old for me.

  • Filipinos start singing Christmas songs when the months end in "ber."

  • “Do fleas give you dogs?” – Jenny Ellis

  • Train doors will close whether or not your entire body is inside… [yep. my hips were stuck in the door & for a split-second, I feared for my life].

  • Bananas can be prepared at least 1 million different ways – example: banana pancakes, bananas in soup, friend bananas on a stick, plain bananas…and the list goes on…

  • Typical phrases Filipinos use when talking to us…

“Hello mom.” [ma’am].

“Thank you mom.” [ma’am]

“Good afternoon!”

“Hello! What is your name?”

“Are you married?”
