WHAT THE MINISTRY IS LOOKING FOR!
Nuevo Generacion this is the name of the ministry you will be working with for the next 10 months! Led by Luis Carlos Castillo! Currently Luis and his staff at Nuevo Generacion have a girl named Sidney from Ohio who is 20 years old coming to teach English from January-October of this year. Luis is looking for another woman to come live with Sidney and be a part of what she is doing in partnering with Nuevo Generacion at local schools in Antigua Guatemala to teach english as a second language and being the love of Christ to the children at the same time! Luis is wanting a independent smart woman who is willing to fully emerce herself in the Guatemalan culture joining him and his family at a new church plant Nuevo Generacion started in Antigua that is in Spanish, and surrounding yourself in the Guatemalan culture while making friends with your students inviting them to join you in bible studies, or youth events hosted by Nuevo Generacion! The overall hope of your time here in Guatemala is to learn the culture, customs, and language while you teach and share your own culture customs and language! Even though Antigua may be beautiful it is also a hurting city needing the love and redemption of Christ just like all of us many can be or are lost and you get the opportunity through God to be the light of Christ and serve others in amazing ways that will shape and change you for the rest of your life!
Teaching would be from Monday-Friday with most of your weekends free Saturday and Sunday you will have time to rest, make new friends outside of school, partner with Nuevo Generacion in things like soccer camps, bible studies, volunteering at an orphanage or construction work! You and your ministrey partner Sidney will live together at a home
In a gated community on the outskirts of Antigua with running water, a kitchen, bathrooms, an office and wifi! From time to time other teams from all around the U.S. and Canada primarily will come live with you and partner with Nuevo Generacion in other service projects or come alongside you in what you are doing!
REQUIREMENTS FROM YOU
1.you must be a woman.
2.you must maintain a relationship with the Lord and be willing to read your bible daily and pour into your family at the ministry Nuevo Generacion and your roommate Sidney.
3.Nuevo Generacion will do a series of phone interviews with your parents and pastor simply to ask how your relationship with the Lord is and various questions.
4.Each month you will be required to raise $600.00 which will pay for your food, transportation, heating, electrical, and water bills for the home you are living in.
5.If you want to do extra things you will be required to have your own spending money.
6.The school will already have curriculum for you and will help you to learn how to teach it when starting.
An End Note!
There are many more beautiful things and people to meet here in Guatemala I am in love with this country and these people! Guatemala is like anywhere you would travel there are dangerous places but you learn where to be and not be at various times! Antigua and where you would be living is very safe! When you first arrive Luis will show you how to use the transit and get around it is very cheap to go to various places and you will discover many more ministries and people that you can volunteer with or spend time with on your free days. Leaving your comfort zone and spending money can be two deciding factors that makes people say no to opportunities like this but I want to encourage any one who is reading this to truly step out of their comfort zone if you feel God leading and step into this season of life that God is calling you too realizing that investing in your relationship with God and yourself can be the deciding factor that changes everything and brings you to a place that is worth giving up other comforts for!
