“See that sick
little girl, the thee-year-old lying helpless in the hospital bed? I don’t see
how it could be God’s will for her to be sick; I don’t think it is. I think He
loves her and wants to see her healthy.

Today, someone told
me that it couldn’t be God’s will to have that little girl in the hospital
suffering so much and that He wanted her to be well. Immediately, God told me
to speak this.

WHO ARE WE TO
PRESUME TO KNOW THE WILL OF GOD?! Or even to know Him?! His ways are not our
ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Many people, especially many
Christians seem to make this mistake. God is great and omniscient; to think He
is anything less, or that we know His will better than He, is tantamount to
blasphemy. If it was His will for that little girl to be healthy, don’t you
think she’d be healthy? Why do bad things happen to good people? God never
promises bad things won’t happen to His followers; in fact, He states that we
will be persecuted and tortured and suffer much for our faith. His promise is
to share the burden and be with us through it all.

In John 9, the
story of the man who was blind from birth is told. All his friends asked Jesus
what it was that his parents had done to make this man deserve to be blind.
Jesus answer says it all: “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that
the works of God should be revealed in him. It was God’s will for the man to
be born and grow up blind so that later on, Jesus could demonstrate His power
and bring others to salvation. The same thing goes for the story of Lazarus.
Lazarus was one of Jesus’ best friends and Jesus allowed him to die. Lazarus
was in the grave for four days before Jesus traveled there so that when He
raised him from the dead, it would truly reveal God’s glory.

To those of you
struggling and wondering how it can be in the will of God, take comfort in the knowledge
that God DOES love you and He knows and wants what’s best for you. Just because
you’re struggling right now doesn’t mean He doesn’t care. Chances are, you
won’t understand or know or see what His plan is until it’s been executed. But
His will WILL be accomplished, whether we understand or agree with it.

Lord, I believe. Help me with my unbelief.
