Did too much to write about everything, but here is something for you.
First I was assigned to take inventory for the local ministry we were lodging at. My job was quite simple initially but became difficult as I began to take inventory in rooms where there was unfamiliar equipment. This caused me to become frustrated because I felt I could be more of a use else where but the Lord changed my attitude and put it on my heart to make the best of where he had placed me. It was as if God was saying be faithful over the small tasks. Anyway to make the best of this ministry I became intentional about praying and speaking to anyone I came across while doing inventory. This brought joy to my heart as I was able to speak words of life and write down various prayer request and lay them before the lord for those in need of prayer.
While being faithful to the task at hand, God opened up the door for me to be an influence to 3 little boys named Gibson, Gina, and Alpheus. I spent almost 2 hours a day with them playing and talking about scripture. My goal was to pour as much truth into them as i could and show them as much love as i had the capacity to show.
A little bit about the boys:
Gibson and Gina lives in a shelter where their mother dropped them off, left them, and never came back. Neither of them have fathers or brothers who are positive male figures in their life. One is 11 in the fourth grade and the other is 16 in the sixth grade. Alpheus lives with both parents but has an unstable spiritual home. He is also in fourth grade and at 11 years of age he is tormented with thoughts of demonic warfare.
As the week carried on our ministry host allowed us to go to the streets to do some outreach. Our destination was a huge park where we danced, sang, and preached the gospel. This was such a great time as we worshipped God with everything and saw the people draw near. We also walked around and witnessed to multiple people and proclaimed the name of Christ. Some were open to the conversations some shut us down but either way it's a win win win for us.
Seed planted = win for us
They accept = win for us
They reject = win for us but a sad reality they reject!
1 Peter 4:14 " if ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye, for the spirit of glory and of god rest upon you.
Luke 6: 22 "Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!
23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
For me the most exciting time of all was preaching in front of 800 high school students. Let me just say this was a very frightening moment!
This is why:
The morning before i spoke i sat down at a table to read scripture to get my daily manna, then all of a sudden the thought of me having to preach sat vividly in my mind and the feeling of me having to preach sat heavily on my heart. Normally if this happens i know its God saying prepare. At this point i assumed I would have to do the morning devotion so I scrambled as fast as I could through scripture to find something to speak about, but as we got closer to devotion time I found out that someone had been assigned to speak. Wiping my forehead and whispering whew I figured it was a false alarm, but then again I knew that I've had this thought and feeling before and it was God.
Sure enough after the devotion took place I was asked to speak at a christian school. When I committed to preaching I became so nervous because Ive never spoke before a large body, nor have I ever had such short notice.
Long story short, as a weak and broken man I thank God for month one and every opportunity he presented. There is no merit in me that compelled God to choose me for certain things but that's what makes his grace all the more magnificent and beautiful. The finish work of christ and the cross is my greatest joy and strongest foundation but oh how I delight in doing the lords will. Can't wait to see what's month two has to offer 🙂
