Who will do the work? You or the Stone
ESV
Matthew 3:9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father, for I tell you God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
Luke 19: 18-40 Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest! And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him “Teacher rebuke your disciples” He answered “I tell you, if these were silent the very stones would cry out
It’s so many things that come to my mind when I read that Jesus can make stones cry out and worship him if we don’t. REALLY JESUS! Are you just that amazing or are we just that frozen at times? I’m gonna go with……. Drum roll please…… you are just that AMAZING. I suppose we are always quick to say we are your chosen ones but the reality is if we sit long enough we will be your frozen ones. What can a paralyzed, frozen, solid heart do for you?
If we don’t praise you, worship you, preach your gospel, pray to you, sing to you, dance for you, fight with you, love on you, rejoice in you, long for you, be intimate with you, you will raise up rocks to do it (solid fact). You are that powerful you can raise up the seed of Abraham from rocks. Oh yea, that’s the same rocks I use to throw at windows, animals, across the water to make it skip, I used to kick , I use to build castles with, I used to spit on, I used to collect only to see them sit there and go in the trash. Little did my hard head know, this rock was created to worship Christ as all of creation was. While I should have been worshiping you, I was using rocks to torture stuff. This stone could easily take my place to do God’s will.
That’s remarkable. What’s even more incredible is that those stones that I spent time trashing, throwing, and making collisions with, etc. THEY WERE EXTREMELY HARD TO BREAK. Then you have me, lil ole richy rich, when I’m thrown into the fire I break, when I’m trashed by the world I break, when I take on challenging commissions I feel unqualified so I break. I forget who my father is, I forget who holds everything together, I forget the one to whom ‘the nations are like a drop from a bucket and are accounted as the dust on scales” Isaiah 40:15, I forget that he is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I can ask or even think, in a nutshell I forget how powerful and mighty he is so I develop a “have it my way faith”. First of all this ain’t no BK faith, and second of all my way will land me straight to destruction. Do you have that BK faith? If you plan on being a true disciple it’s Christ way or the highway. It’s a funny but a serious reality that it took a stone for God to teach me a lesson.
Don’t let a stone take your place. LOVE
