One foot in front of the other, I walk.
And walk.
And walk.
For four hours everyday around the village of Stoenesti.
One prayer in front of another, I pray.
And pray.
And pray.
For four hours everyday around the village of Stoenesti.
Each day is the same, but different. Spiritual warfare happens daily. The darkness tries to overtake us, but it can’t.
George, our contact, continually asks us to pray for him and his ministry. Usually he will come to talk to us and tell us something to pray for that day. It could be anything from getting a visa to a conference happening later in the month to strange things happening in the village being blamed on him to finding rest. The enemy is trying very hard in this village, but what he doesn’t know is that the light has already won.
Personally, I can’t see the darkness anymore because I walk around and only see the light and hope.
On our first day prayer walking, I saw the people who are blinded to the light and the people who live guarded by gates both literally and figuratively. I saw people sitting on benches located right outside the gates of their homes talking, but more so gossiping. But now, I see them same people through God’s eyes. They are His children that have wandered off. He is calling them back home. I see the same people and I see their potential in the Kingdom. I see the children and know this is the generation in this area that is going to change the village and the surrounding villages.
With every step I take, I see the shoe print left behind from the days and hours before.
This print tells me there is hope and light is spreading in this village. The Maker of the universe is hearing my prayers and He cares for every person in this village. With every step I take, more of God is spreading across the roads, the paths, the sidewalks, and the gravel. He is leaving a mark in this village through me. He goes before me and walks beside me. His light is bursting through the bricks of the houses in Stoenesti. His work is being done.
Everyday I walk, the village seems to get smaller, but I realize the need only grows bigger.
I’ve never realized the power of prayer more so than in this ministry. Pray for the people. There are a wide variety of people in Stoenesti from wealthy to poor, gypsies to witches, farmers to unemployed, educated children to uneducated children, alcoholics to abusers, lazy to ignorant. These people need your prayers.
On top of that, George and his family are mainly the only Christians in the village. His workload is extensive and he personally visits each home in the village to share the Gospel. Pray for his ministry and the work they are doing.
Pray everyday.
And pray some more.
And pray.
And pray.
