You’re riding The Titan, a ridiculously tall roller-coaster at Six Flags Over Texas, for the first time. You’re slowly getting higher and higher. Your anticipation is building. You’re getting more nervous. A little more scared. You want to get off. You’re feeling a little sick. But there’s nowhere to run or hide. You reach the top, terrified of what the drop is going to feel like. And then woosh! You are falling at 80 mph having the time of your life. All your fear is gone. All your worries are gone. You laugh at yourself for even thinking there was anything to worry about. You know you are exactly where you need to be.
These last three months have been amazing. But as month four approached many people began to get nervous. Many people were afraid. Many people did not like what was to come. And that worry and fear grew more and more as we got closer to arriving in Cambodia. You see, Cambodia was the month of team changes! Cue scary music. We couldn’t imagine leaving the teams that we had become family with over the last three months. Many of us hated the idea of it. As we arrived in Cambodia, we looked down from our high up coaster and had no idea what to expect.
Team changes have now taken place. I am not with anyone from my former team (Team Shofar). But I view these upcoming months as the downward descent of the roller-coaster. We will soon come to realize that God has us exactly where we ought to be. We will be having so much fun. We will be growing so much in our awareness of God. We will laugh to think that we doubted that God would put us with the people that we needed to be with.
I am going to miss Savannah, Sarah, Hannah, Justin, Geena, and Alexa immensely! They have played such a huge part in my growth and how much I’ve learned so far on the race. But I am excited to see how much more I can grow with this new team.
We were told to come up with a team name. I started looking up quotes that I liked that could help form some possibilities for what our new team would call itself. And I found this awesome quote:
“There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could…”-Nick Fury
For those of you that don’t recognize that quote, it’s from the Avengers (my favorite movie!). But how fitting. I believe that our team has been placed together to really fight to spread the name of Christ. We are called to a battle zone. It is a war against the enemy and we are the frontline!
This led our team to come up with the team name, drum roll please, MARVELous Avengers! Yes, I am super excited. Many of you know I love anything comic book related, so I’m stoked! I truly believe this team has the potential to be something amazing! I am so ready to do life with these people: Sharon, Tyler Hunt, Cindi, Morgan, Kaity, and Natalie!
Please pray that our team becomes one unit quickly and that we help push each other to greatness!
Much Love,
Raj (AKA Spiderman…yes, he was part of the Avengers, he joined in 1991)
