We were on our last day in Romania, when the squad leaders asked us all to go to the back of where we were staying to have a meeting. Most of the team was there when I got there. We had to wait a few minutes for the other people on my team to get there. Once we all were there they told us that Kathryn was going to be moved to a different team. I knew team changes happen, but they do not happen till month 4 normally and then it is everyone and not just 1 person. I have grown to love my team and everyone on it, and I know when month 4 comes around we might have a team change and we might not. Personally I hope we do not have one since I fell as though losing a friend and a team mate is a team change.

After they told me this my team was in shock. We all just stood there with nothing to say since this was a shock to everyone. We decided to have some time to talk about it but it was not easy. We spent the few hours that we had at the gate in the airports with Kathryn but there just was not that many. We had 1 last dinner with her but after that we did not meet up as a team again until we got to Malawi. When we got there we got to say goodbye but we have not seen her since. We do not have the same off days as her new team, so we thought we could see her then but we cannot.   I hope we can see her once here in Malawi before we leave for our next country but if we cannot that is fine with me as hard as it would be to not see her, it might be for the best that we wait till the end of the month.

The team does fell different now, it is a little quitter and “all the (insert random thing here like coffee, animals, etc) is said a lot less often now. Personally I knew team changes are a thing on the race but when it came in month 2 it was a complete and total shock. We are still functioning as a team and we have a squad leader here after we had a week to adjust to the new team for 10 or so days.   I have accepted the team change after some time in prayer about it. At first I was questioning why AIM made that choice for the team, but in the end, although I might still disagree, it is for the best for the members of the team that were involved.

This month we are doing church planting by going to unreached villages and helping the pastor spread the word about the church and doing mini church services with songs and a quick salvation message followed up by why: reading the bible is important, going to church, assuring them on what they did was a great thing they just did
