According to the CIA, the kingdom of Thailand, known as Siam until 1939, is the only country in the region not colonized by Europe. Their 2000 census showed that 94.6% of the population is Buddhist, 4.6% are Muslim, and 0.7% are Christian. Approximately 600,000 people live with HIV/AIDS in Thailand. With nearly two million people estimated to be forced into prostitution, it has become one of the most popular places for sex tourism.

On a side note.  I had the opportunity to speak in front of my church today about my trip.  I will have a blog post about what was given this week up along with more info on the trip later this week.  But the basic break down of the $7000 is this: $4400 for the trip cost (after donations from the table + donation from my aunt I need $4,016.35), $2,200 to cover the 2 plane tickets I will still need (to launch and return home from the return city), Field costs (food (not all meals are covered by the trip cost), clean water (yep not always free) doctor visits if I need them (but I hope I won’t), travel days (they are called days for a reason) and various other things that can come up), and $400 for the last few items I need to get prior to leaving for Training Camp in July.  If you have any questions before then leave a reply or click on the contact me button on the bottom of the page and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
