Hey October Squad!

So…I had some questions asked me that may help you guys out for when talking to parents, supporters, and so forth.  Here they are:

If you don’t raise the total amount, the money you have raised reverts
to the organization?

If that is the case, and we have appropriate time before you launch, then we would consider moving you to the following Race with the consent of the participant.  If you choose not to to continue on the Race and you have money in your support account, that money cannot be refunded nor transferred due to our understanding of IRS regulations, as well as the understanding of the supporters who have donated to Adventures In Missions.  You can find more information on your Personal Profile Page under the “Support” tab about support raising and our policies for support raising.

Have you been given any idea of how many candidates don’t raise enough
money?

The amount of participants who have not raised enough money and have either been deferred to a later Race or have dropped out of the process is a very low percentage.  Once on the field, we can say that we have never had a participant go home because they were not able to raise their support.

Is there a percentage available of those who do raise the funds of all
who start out?

Everyone of our participants who have completed the World Race have been able to raise and/or pay their full support amount.

What about language barriers?

There are expected language barriers due to the fact that you are entering many countries whose first language is not English.  Their usually is a translator available whether that is included through your contact, or someone that your team hires.

What population do you expect to minister to?

You can expect to minister to any population of people that you can think of.  It really depends on who your contact in the country is and what their ministry is.  Our purpose is to partner beside the contact and their ministry and to be their hands and feet, whether that is working in an orphanage or doing door-to-door-evangelism.  You can expect to get a taste of a lot of different types of ministry and to be in contact with a multitude of people from all ages, cultures, and beliefs.

What leads you to believe, or what have you been told, that this
population/these populations will be receptive?

As followers of Christ, we have faith that wherever God leads us and whatever ministry we are a part of, we will have an impact.  It is not about the numbers.  Meaning, we do not keep up with how many people are converted or come to know Christ while we are ministering, but it is about us being obedient to what God has called us to do.  Only God is in charge and because we have faith in God and we trust God, we believe that He can change the hearts of people.  Please feel free to read the blogs of the World Race participants, those who are presently on the Race and those who are Alumni.  There are many blogs that talk about God’s ministry and miracles while on the Race.

How is an individual’s mission judged to be ‘successful’?

If you are asking how The World Race may judge an individual to be “successful”, then we would probably say that if the participant has been impacted by God for His Kingdom.

A year is a big commitment. What if you want to leave at a certain
point? Can you?

A year is a big commitment, however, it is a commitment that needs to be taken seriously.  We expect for a committed participant to understand that they will be expected to stay on the field for the entirety of The World Race that they have committed to.  There are special exceptions, but these would have to be discussed with the leadership of your World Race squad and of The World Race.
