The World Race will expose you to many amazing cultures, people, languages, foods, history, ministry opportunites, biblical truths and parasitic invaders… Aww, snap!

Rewind that back. Parasitic invaders?

If you’re under a fairy tale illusion that the World Race is an 11 month joy ride through the nations to kiss babies this is your wake up call.

My team took home more than post cards, photographs and good bye notes from our cute Cambodian students… A few weeks into our ministry here in Australia one of my team mates noticed she had head lice and as a precaution my entire team treated our hair and checked for lice.

We were lucky enough to have an expert nit picker on our team who was wise enough to bring along a lice comb and a bottle of treatment. (When you’re 27 you’re just prepared for stuff like that). As a result the lousy infestation was taken care of rapidly and without drama.

If you are a future World Racer or are planning on setting out through another organization it would be wise to keep in mind that you too may get to wear the trendy green shower cap.

Plan accordingly.

Chances are you will be able to pick up lice shampoo in all of the nations you are travelling to. Whether you choose to pack a treatment for lice with you from home is up your discretion. However I would recommend taking along a lice comb. Lice combs make all the difference in the world when you’re trying to pick the eggs out of your hair and they may not be included in the treatment box you pick up.

Happy Travels!
