I have slowly begun to accumulate the equipment that I will be taking with me on the race. It is actually quite exciting but at the same time I am finding it challenging.

I definately feel like a rookie as I step into the sporting goods store not really clear about what I am actually looking for. The sales people are all extremely nice about it which makes it a lot  easier.

I was actually kind of surprised by how excited one woman I talked to became when I told her that I would be backpacking through 11 different countries in 11 months. Her whole face lit up. I recognized her from work so perhaps that was why she was so excited about it, she knows me a little bit.

That might also be why I very nearly bought a sleeping pad on the spot. Perhaps you have figured out by now that I am not spontaneous. When it comes to making decisions I do the research. I do not walk into a store and make an immediate purchase, that usually takes me a couple of weeks, occasionally months. My parents can vouch for me on this one-I am a stickler.

She recommended the Neo-Air sleeping mat. Told me that the wife of the other sales associate, (also a customer, his wife is really nice), travelled for several months with one and loved it. Apparently the Neo-Air is two inches of heaven in the world of sleeping mats.

Durable. Comfortable. Light, only 2 pounds.

I will probably purchase one from her if I look up product reviews and dont find 20 angry customers boycotting the product.

How am I apart from my lengthy to do list?

      Ummm… Good actually.

I’m house sitting which makes planning harder because all of my World Race stuff is half an hour away right now. But I have made leaps and bounds with my blogging which encourages me, packing is slowly starting to come together and I am getting feedback from my support letters.

I am a little bit concerned though because I sent in a cheque and it has not shown up in my account yet. But I might just be impatient.

Everyone can continue to partner with me in prayer for my 100 people. I believe I have around 15 so far who are willing to each donate $150. Which is AWESOME and SO encouraging but not enough.

Also pray for peace, clarity of thought and wisdom. I am signed up for two classes come fall but I am considering dropping one of them simply because I am afraid I will be too busy. The thing is I want to work as much as possible but it is so hard to predict whether or not I will be getting hours in the fall. I don’t want to take on too much and not be able to manage it all. Right now I am extremely busy and I haven’t started classes yet.

Thanks for all of your support so far. Everyone has been so encouraging and supportive. I hope you are all enjoying the changes I have made to the blog over the last several days.

More to come soon I promise!
