Hello friends! I am in Swaziland, Africa now! We got here yesterday. This month is all squad month which means there are around 60ish of us living together! Some are sleeping inside, others are in tents. My team is in tents this month. I’m super excited about ministry this month!! We will be doing a few different things. Mainly we will be working at Care Points that are run by an organization called Children’s Hope Chest. This organization is based out of Colorado back in the states. They are an organization that you can sponsor a child through. Children’s Hope Chest has partnered with Adventures in Missions( the organization I’m with) to work at the care points. How it works is people from the states sponsor kids from around here. Every day that child goes to the care point to get feed 1 mean, learn about Jesus, and learn life skills. Children’s Hope Chests goal is to provide a place where theses kids can not only get feed a meal, but learn how to thrive on their own. We are the missionaries that will be helping teach the kids how to thrive. I’m so excited to be working with the kids that are being sponsored from the states! I get to be apart of such an amazing organization! We also will be helping with admin. So helping profile the kids, sorting the letters that their sponsors wrote them, and other admin duties. Other days we will help with construction or building. There is also a preschool that we will help at some days! All these areas are what I’m passionate about! Kids, admin, physical labor. Honestly going into all squad month I wasn’t super excited because there was going to be so many people, but now that I see the work we are going to do my heart is excited! Most ministry I will be doing will be with my little team of 7. Each team will go to a different care point. Ministry is 5 days a week, Sunday’s we have church, then 1 free day. Swaziland is a really broken country. They are one, if not the highest country in HIV/AIDS. The unemployment is super high, so to help out we are paying a lady to cook breakfast and dinner for us. We are also paying a lady to do laundry. We have bucket showers. The weather is hot and super windy. We will be here till October 5th. October 2nd is our last day of ministry, then we leave on the 5th to South Africa for month 3! Thank you everyone that has been supporting me! Love you all!(:
