Costa Rica… The Pura Vida life!

Since we have been in Costa Rica we have been staying and teaching at the Zoe Christian school. I have been mostly helping out in the kindergarten class.

The first couple of days my patience was telling me I couldn’t do this, but then I began to love the kiddos and so it became worth it to be tested in my patience and joy.

It’s been so uplifting to be around children all week, they remind us how simple life should be. They are fearless in their failures and look at them as an opportunity to continue to learn.

Sure, I came here to “teach” but if I’m honest I’m not naturally a teacher and it’s been one of the things I have dreaded walking into on my race. But I also desired that challenge to grow in this area of teaching and to be taught as well. These kids have really taught me so much, like to be honest and vulnerable when we are hurt or to not be worried about what others are thinking of me.

We all could use some more of that childlike confidence and I’m grateful for getting to be reminded of that just by saying yes to stepping into a class room.

Just because we think we’re not very good at something, doesn’t mean that we should put ourselves in a box and say “Well, I’m not good at that so I won’t even try.” No!!! We were meant to learn. Just like these kiddos, we are meant to walk humbly and look at our failures as opportunities to gain. We are God’s kids and there’s so much grace and patience that he gives, all while teaching us these new things.

Let’s chase after those desires even if we’re not good at it. Who knows, a step can become a journey!

I am also learning how to not be in my head so much and to just be myself. We all were placed here just to be us. Because no body can be you and that is part of your purpose in Jesus Christ!

Yes, wake up in rejoice in being a part of His image. Be kind and love the Lord with all your heart and all your mind. I’m thankful for refreshment that God is bringing here in Costa Rica and getting to share that with the people around me and y’all back at home!

I pray for everyone that reads my blog/journal that you would be caught in moments of childlike confidence and joy!

Love y’all, till next time.
